Fun with Engineering for Kids team
Students will become familiar with using a mouse and keyboard as they learn about crafting, building, and what it takes to make a city through MinecraftEdu. Through building a campsite, a village, and even a community on an archipelago, students will come to understand the challenges of scarcity, resource allocation, as well as city planning.
Camp prerequisites: Practice with a mouse and keyboard are recommended, but not required.
Minecraft is one of the most popular games ever made, and you can make it even better! Learn how to code your own Minecraft Mods and use them on your own server! Start out your coding adventure without having to worry about complicated text code. In this camp, you’ll use Code Kingdom’s easy drag & drop interface and JAVA to code your game. Publish, share, and play games with friends on any platform from console to mobile. Kids with existing Minecraft accounts should bring their log-in info. If student doesn’t have an Minecraft.net account, parents will need to create an account prior to camp. Student’s private server will be linked to their existing Minecraft.net account so they have access to all their mods after camp is over. License to Code Kingdoms provided during the term of camp.
Camp prerequisites: Students should be able to read at a 4th grade level, and type at least minimally. Students need a Minecraft account for this class. They may be purchased at Minecraft.net Students without a Minecraft.net account will not be able to participate and create MODs.
